Eventually, she chases Cassie off stage and starts beating on her in the school hallway. And then, when Cassie attacks the girl who’s playing her in the play - during the carousel scene based on Cassie’s Season 1 carnival O - Maddy decides it’s time to get in on the action. “You’re just a f–king bystander,” Cassie screams at her sister, which earns her boos from the crowd.Īt one point, Cassie and Maddy are going back and forth in front of everyone about who’s the bigger see-you-next-Tuesday. Mama Suze also gets up there to try to help, but it just pushes Cassie farther into her tirade. Cassie mocks her sister’s play, then pulls the playwright out on stage, with Lexi quietly begging her to stop the whole time. God bless the guy running the follow spot, because he lights Cassie from the very first moment she crashes the action. She marches in, and the look on her face causes her mom to whisper, “Oh God.” Various audience members take notice as Cassie sashays down the center aisle toward the stage and gets right up on stage. We rejoin Lexi’s play at the point where Cassie is dragon-breathing on the door at the back of the auditorium. “That’s the important s–t,” he tells her, and it’s so sweet and pure… then we go right back to Fez, who is near-hyperventilating in the kitchen after everything that’s gone down. We immediately flashback to phone calls between Lexi and Fez where they talk about Little House on the Prairie, social media and how they have dissimilar lives but share similar character traits. Realizing that someone may be listening in via Custer’s phone, Fez puts his hand over the dying man’s mouth while he bleeds out, then makes sure Ash and Fay stay quiet as he drops Custer’s phone into a half-drunk Big Gulp in the kitchen. There’s some back and forth with Fay about how he told her Laurie killed Mouse, but then Ash puts a knife into Custer’s neck before Fez can stop him, and that’s that. Custer soon admits what he’s known for a while: The cops found Mouse’s body. Now, Nate is Cassie's problem, and this breakup is the first of what will probably be many if the two end up on the same path that Nate and Maddy were on.Fez is about to leave for Lexi’s play when he picks up on the looks Custer and Fay are shooting each other. Their relationship was incredibly toxic, but they kept getting back together - they were broken people who found solace in one another. Nate was emotionally, and at times physically, abusive to Maddy during their relationship, and they broke up constantly. No one knows better than Maddy what it's like to be yanked around by Nate - both literally and figuratively. However, what Maddy is probably referencing is the roller coaster Cassie is about to be on if she chooses to stay with Nate. Now that her relationship with Cassie is fractured (possibly beyond repair), it'll be even easier for her to leave. We already suspected she might be ready to leave town and start a new life, and ending things with Nate is a big part of that. First of all, she seems fully resigned to, well, everything. Breaking the silence, Cassie tells Maddy that what's funny about the whole situation is that Nate dumped her before she even got the chance to cause a scene in the auditorium. Cassie's face is bloody Maddy, for the most part, is spotless. We see Maddy shove Cassie into a wall before the fight scene cuts out.įast-forward in the episode, and the two are sitting on the bathroom counter. She storms onto the stage to drag Cassie away and deal with her elsewhere so Lexi's play can continue. As Cassie parades around the stage screaming at everyone (including her mom), Maddy decides she's had enough. As the finale picks up, Cassie storms into the auditorium and jumps on stage to rip Lexi a new one for making a play partly inspired by her life. He dumps her on the spot, and she loses it. While Cassie had no idea what Lexi's play would be about, Nate refuses to believe her - Lexi is her sister, after all. He storms out of the auditorium in a rage, with Cassie following quickly behind. In the penultimate episode, as Lexi (Maude Apatow) unveils her play to the entire school, she inserts a scene implying that Nate is queer.
